Uplighting Can Make For A Memorable Event

Imagine you are visiting a venue to consider if it might be the right place to hold your wedding reception. The beautiful room features high ceilings with crisp white walls and pillars surrounding an inviting dance floor area. Incandescent overhead lights hang from the ceiling above you. The coordinator shows you the control for those fixtures – a dimmer that you play with – trying to set a mood for the room with the lighting. While this plain room may not have the extravagant look with sparkling chandeliers and intricate sconces along the walls, it meets your budget requirements. The good thing is that with a little uplighting work, those blank walls and pillars can serve as a gorgeous backdrop for your event.
Uplighting To The Rescue
It’s no secret that lighting can heavily effect the tone of the reception, so uplighting has caught on as an almost requirement for weddings these days. While traditional uplighting can vary in the setup – from ‘set it and forget it’ one-color washes, a professional operator can also wire them together, giving the opportunity to change the accent color of the room to match the moment in the schedule. Blue for cake-cutting, red for first dances, white for toasts, etc. This is a very affordable and solution with beautiful results. However, this does require available power sources and requires running wires along the wall or floor to daisy chain them together together so they can be controlled
Wireless Uplighting
The alternative to this is wireless uplighting, which is very new, and up until recently, very expensive. These systems do not need any cables linking them together and some don’t even require direct power. Those pillars in the middle of the room that would be too difficult to place a light beneath using traditional fixtures can now become gorgeous columns of color with wireless uplighting.
Whatever you choose, uplighting has become a standard wedding reception accessory while adding a great way to add energy to your reception. Additionally, if Fun DMC provides the uplights, we can coordinate them to match to our stage show as well, by perhaps adding “chasing” colors in a sequence or flashing along with beats of the song the guests are dancing to. We can make this effect subtle, yet impressive at the same time. We offer uplighting as an additional to our wedding reception package or as a service apart from our performance.
