What’s In Your Gig Bag?

Nearly every performer I know has a set of essential items they bring with them to every gig or performance. All those essentials are thrown into a bag of some sort that is often referred to as a “gig bag”. The contents of every gig bag are as unique as the person carrying it and are dependent on the person’s role within a performance. As a vocalist, I don’t need the same tools that Talon, Robert, or Aaron might require during a performance, event, or gig. I am however the only girl in Fun DMC and have other aspects of my personal life that make the contents of my gig bag incredibly important and essential to me.
If I break it down to the absolute basics of what I NEED to bring with me, then I can fit everything in something basically the size of a wallet. All I really need are my outfit, keys, wallet, and in-ear headphones. However, I like to be prepared for most any situation that might come my way and instead pack a large backpack that I bring with me almost every where I go. Even if a gig is just up the street from my house, I like to have everything with me when I leave to set up so that I can be focused entirely on the upcoming event instead of trying to find a time to run home to change or grab something last minute. I am also someone who is perpetually late, so being at our setup on-time and prepared for whatever may come my way, helps me to stay calm and collected.
My gig bag isn’t anything special or out of the ordinary, but it is unique to me. By taking a look in my bag, you won’t learn a whole lot about the music or about Fun DMC, but you will definitely learn a whole lot about me. My bag is always evolving and changing and often has items added (especially when we do a themed event or wedding) but the basic are always there and help me to be a better performer at each show.
