Fun DMC Is Family.

Over the past month or so, I’ve done a lot of traveling. I honestly feel like I’ve been away more than I’ve been home. I was on the road with my husband for almost two and a half weeks (split into a couple separate trips because God help us traveling together any longer than a a few days). We were celebrating a wedding, visiting relatives we hadn’t seen in far too long, on a vacation with my immediate family, and just taking some much needed time away for ourselves. We spent time with our families just sitting back, telling stories, exploring new destinations, bonding over meals and drinks, watching the sunset over the various bodies of water we visited, and simply enjoying each others company. We reminisced while also creating so many new, beautiful memories.
With how busy our lives have been recently, Chad and I definitely needed a vacation. I loved my time away and came back feeling more rested and recharged, but couldn’t help feeling like something was missing throughout our travels. Not only was I actually, physically, missing a few gigs while I was gone (thank you to the amazing Liz Gall for stepping in! You are so wonderful!!), I was also missing my second family. My Fun DMC family.
I can easily say that joining Fun DMC is among the top 5 best decisions I have made in my life (and that list includes things like marrying my husband, Chad). At the time, it was an overwhelming and somewhat terrifying decision, but now I can easily say that this group (not just performing with this group but the people themselves) has changed my life in more ways than I could have possibly imagined. Spending time with all of them is something I always look forward to. Even on the longest days with the worst load-ins, in the most terrible weather, and on the latest nights, I can’t help but smile because these guys (and their incredible families) are the best people to be around.
As a potential client or patron you may think this is just a sweet little blog post, but hold on just a minute. If you’re thinking of ever hiring Fun DMC or coming to support us at any event, the fact that we actually get along and enjoy each other’s company is something that (I think) sets us apart. We genuinely enjoy what we do and spending time doing everything together. From the booking, to the back end business life, to the blog posts, and finally the performances, we work together to make sure it all happens, that everything runs as smoothly as possible, and that we are all on board with every decision and step we take as a band. Not only that, but we support each other in our personal and professional lives outside of Fun DMC, showing up and being present, always. That is what sets us apart, our commitment to working together, supporting one another, and always striving to be our best selves individually, as a group, and in all we do. Those things (along with our unique mashups and medleys) set us apart.
