1. Who are you/what’s your elevator pitch to couples interested in your work?
My goal as a photographer is to not only provide the best images on their special day, but to go above and beyond my client’s expectations and provide an Experience. Treat them as my top priority and take care of them so well that they not only do they receive amazing photos, but they remember the experience that accompanied those photos.
2. What do you think are important questions a couple should ask when choosing a photographer?
What is your style? Are you hours limited to a certain number of hours?
3. How does a couple pick a good photographer out of the dozens in the area?
My suggestion is to obviously look at their work and see what you are drawn too. Then set up a wedding consult in person if possible to meet to see if your personalities click.
4. What is your go-to tip for making the wedding day go smoothly for everyone?
Breathe! We will plan out the day as best as we can. But it’s a wedding….something usually always comes up. If you remember to breathe in those cases we can figure out how to make the best of any situation.
5. What advice do you always give a couple before their wedding day?
Remember to enjoy the day. With so much happening around you and all the small details you worked so hard on remember to stop every once in awhile and take them all in.
6. What can a couple do to make sure they look good in their photos?
Know what looks good on you. Show off what you love about yourself. Do test runs with your hair and make up artist so you have no surprises on the big day.
7. Why is wedding photography so expensive?
The time it takes to photograph a wedding is just the beginning of the time it takes to complete the images. Collating through all the photos taken to give clients the best images and editing every image given to the clients are just a couple parts of my workflow. Cameras as well as other equipment that keeps up with work that clients want is not cheap.
8. Why don’t you give out the original pictures or the whole day’s shoot?
Part of my job is to shoot the photos as well as edit them to my style. That is why my clients hire me. For my style of work. I do my best to make my style show “in camera” at the moment I’m taking the photo. However, completing the editing portion of my workflow is what finishes my look. I always do my best to give as many photos as possible.
9. How far in advance should a couple book?
For a wedding, at least a year. Many couples are booking a bit further out even. For any other session, usually at least a month or two in advance. Especially in my busy season like the fall.
10. Should a couple tip a photographer?
I never expect a tip, but it is always appreciated.
