How did you get started?
We are musicians by trade, but back in 2014, a local band needed last minute production, and we had just enough sound equipment to throw the night together. That pretty much started it all for Harris Sound & Lighting.
What’s your favorite show you’ve run sound for?
Probably the 2016 “Capitol City Celebration” it was a huge event!
What piece of advice would you give to a new band to make the night go easier?
Management of stage volume! Proper stage volume is the first piece to a sound engineers puzzle.
What is your essential piece of gear?
Our Allen & Heath Qu-32 digital mixer. It is an invaluable tool for us.
What’s your biggest challenge at every gig?
Making absolutely sure all band members are satisfied with their personal monitor.
What’s the biggest unexpected catastrophe you have successfully overcome during an event?
Thankfully, a popped breaker is about as catastrophic as its been. Knock on wood.
What song are you sick to death of hearing?
Summer of 69 comes to mind immediately!
What is your go-to song to crank for testing a system?
Rascal Flatts version of “Life Is a Highway” is one of the favorites, it has a lot of punchy low end that expresses well through our system.
