With the recent news of Chris Cornell’s passing, it seemed appropriate to pay tribute to a vocalist who no doubt had an influence over musicians brought up in the last 20+ years. I came into the 90s by way of hip-hop, pop music, and third-wave ska, so Soundgarden was never my go-to band to pop into my discman, but even then I could appreciate his powerful vocals that cut through the sea of brooding grunge and alt rock singers of the day. However, as a fan of Rage Against The Machine, I naturally gravitated towards Audioslave and I still remember feeling chills when I first heard “Like A Stone.” Being primarily a mashup band, it’s often difficult to find a quality tribute for an artist we respect, so I was thrilled to find this neat arrangement of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” mixed with The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” by mashup artist Chocomang.
