Horath Wedding Reception at Erin’s Pavilion
Posted by Robert Reynolds on September 27th 2016
Saturday night once again found the members of Fun DMC returning to the lovely Erin’s Pavilion at Southwind Park. September has been quite the busy month for the band and this would be the band’s last wedding for a couple of weeks. Following an outdoor cocktail hour with a view that affords one of the better sunsets in Springfield, the guests of the recently wed Mr. and Mrs. Horath took their seats for the reception that would follow. Cake cutting, dinner provided by Hamilton’s Catering, toasts and speeches soon took place followed by the dances, bouquet and garter tosses. However, what happened next would long set apart the Horath reception. No sooner had Fun DMC played the first couple of notes to Justin Timberlake’s 2016 smash hit, “Can’t Stop The Feeling” the entire dance floor was absolutely packed. For the remainder of the evening the dance floor retained this energy with dancers of all ages.
The reception came to a close and Fun DMC quickly took to the task of loading out their equipment. This lovely fall evening soon found the band closing out what had been a very long day the only way they know how: Steak N Shake. The Wabash location has long been the spot for late night burgers and shakes so it’s not uncommon to see a lot of familiar faces from the Springfield music scene and night life. We bumped into another one of our favorite bands from town as members of The Mix filed in following their show at The Blue Grouch. The evening wore on into morning and the members of Fun DMC dispersed to their vehicles, returning to their homes, some knowing they would only sleep a few short precious hours before serving at their respective churches.
As I rolled into my own drive way and slowly exited my car, I took a moment to consider the day before reaching for my house keys. The band is currently in the middle part of one of our busiest seasons to date. It was good to breathe in the calm. It took all month but it was finally starting to feel like Fall.
