The Illinois Emergency Management Association Training Summit and The Blue Grouch

Last Wednesday, Fun DMC had the pleasure of playing their first show at the recently revitalized Prairie Capital Convention Center in downtown Springfield, IL. We were hired by The Illinois Broadcasters Association to provide entertainment at the after party for the Illinois Emergency Management Association Training Summit. The mezzanine level reception hall, along with Nelsons Catering, played host to the IEMA event. While Fun DMC definitely brought the music and the magic to the party, there was no greater moment then at the end of the evening, IEMA’s director and several other employees took to the stage in an impromptu rendition of Cake’s cover of the Gloria Gaynor classic “I Will Survive”.
On Saturday night, the band returned to one of their favorite local venues, the one and only Blue Grouch Pub. In spite of a very turbulent August full of extreme heat and torrential downpours, it was about as perfect as a Midwestern Saturday night can get. The band was also thrilled to see that their trademark look is starting to catch on as the Blue Grouch staff showed up in superhero T-shirts. Fun DMC will actually be returning to the Blue Grouch for a Sunday fundraiser with none other then Lick Creek. Until then it’s back to the wedding circuit for us.
