The Importance of the Waiting List
Posted by Robert Reynolds on September 22nd 2016
This past weekend, Fun DMC had the joy and honor of performing at the wedding reception of Josh and Kedra Emmerling. We actually met them at our favorite spot in Taylorville, Y-Zoe’s. Unfortunately, when we looked at our calendar we were initially unable to work with their wedding date due to a prior commitment. We had all hit it off quite well when we met and I recall all of us being quite disappointed that we would be unable to join them for their special day. However, I did encourage them both to get on our waiting list just in case something were to open up. In the weeks following, I believe Kedra even reached out to us a couple of times to see if anything had changed. A few months passed and wouldn’t you know it, the date actually opened up for them. That was a follow up message we were thrilled to send.
The Emmerling wedding was one for the memories. It took place at the lovely Scott Outdoor Adventure Retreat Campground near Litchfield, IL. The outdoor ceremony took place on the back patio overlooking an incredibly green forest area. Everything about the event had its own unique touch including Kedra walking down the aisle to the “Price Is Right Theme.” The multilevel reception hall had a charming rustic feel complete with a full service bar and green room for the bridal party. Josh and Kedra’s first dance was Billy Joel’s classic, “Don’t Go Changing” and from there, Fun DMC took to the stage for one of the most memorable nights this year.
It isn’t uncommon at all for Fun DMC to receive inquiries about dates we have already filled. In fact the truth of the matter is we have already started booking 2018. These days, wedding planners often have to look at least two years in advance when scheduling, particularly during the months of June and September. However we are also keenly aware that life happens and sometimes there are cancellations. That is where the importance of getting your name on a waiting list comes in. As the band played at the Emmerling reception on Saturday night, I looked over the enthusiastic dance floor and it occurred to me that this event almost didn’t turn out this way. Seeing the smiles, the energy, and the excitement that lasted from Uptown Funk all the way to the final slow dance “Let’s Get Loud” ( Let’s Get It On/Thinking Out Loud mashup), I was so glad it did.
A review from Kedra and Joshua from WeddingWire:
We first met this band at our favorite local bar. The owners are close friends of mine and my husband’s, and they made sure to tell us we wouldn’t want to miss this event. We don’t normally go out but boy we were glad that we did! We had been newly engaged and knew right then we NEEDED FunDMC for our wedding! Unfortunately, they had been booked :(. That’s were this group goes above and beyond. Most bands would stop there, FunDMC offers a waiting list! We immediately signed up! They were so friendly, despite me asking several times if they became available. Then our dreams came true and Aaron called to say they had a cancellation and did we still want them? Without hesitation we said yes! Meeting with Robert really set my mind at ease! He helped with what to plan and even a timeline of events. They also provided help with other venders we may need. The day of our wedding could not have been more perfect! FunDMC provided pre-ceremony all the way to the ending of the night. Without FunDMC I’m not sure it could have went so well and I can tell you all now EVERYONE had a blast and could not rave about it enough. FunDMC is a must have for any event!
