McDrew Tennis and Jazz Festival and The Capati Pool Party
Posted by Robert Reynolds on August 15th 2017
This past weekend found us at two events. On Friday night the band played at the 43rd McDrew Tennis and Jazz Festival held in Washington Park. The event was catered by a couple of our favorite food trucks, AZ-T-CA and Cooper’s StrEATside Bistro. It was a beautiful evening of tennis, a bags tournament, and wine.
Saturday night found us at the Club Capati residence in Decatur Courtney annual Capati Pool Party. Once again alongside Albert’s other project, Take 10, both bands performed for the close friends and family of the Capatis. Strangely enough for Fun DMC, it was a night fraught with technical difficulties. However, being the consummate professionals that they are, the band maintained an entertaining demeanor throughout the night while repairs were made to our laptop. Again, we cannot say enough about the hospitality of the Capati family.
We are in the second weekend of August and just at the edge of what is going to be the busiest week for the band in our three year history. Tuesday and Thursday will find us at the Coors Light Tent at the Illinois State Fair along side our friends, The Mix. On Saturday we have a wedding at Piper Glen and on Sunday we will be at the Bloomington location of the Elegant Bridal Expo. Then on Monday, August 21, we have been invited to play at the Soleil NOIR: Solar Eclipse Bash at Danenberger Family Vineyards alongside an incredible lineup of bands including #Smashtag and Broseph E. Lee. Combine all of this with the fact that Albert has a Take 10 gig, Katey still has MTC obligations, Talon is still off saving the world, and Aaron’s wife, Callie could go into labor any day now and you could probably imagine the intensity and anticipation in the air. Hopefully we will see some of you during this crazy time.
Anyway, buckle up because we are about to enter the heart of the storm.
