Here We Are Now, Entertain Us (Clinical Radiologist Appreciation Party)
Posted by Robert Reynolds on March 7th 2017
Saturday night found Fun DMC at their largest private event so far. The annual Clinical Radiologist Appreciation Party was held at the Crowne Plaza Ball Room and every square foot of it was packed wall to wall. Once again the band was joined by guest drummer Fred Saurmann as Talon continues to heal from a devastating hand injury. However, it didn’t stop Talon from taking his place on the iron throne for a few songs during the third set. Hopefully we will see Talon back in action at our upcoming St. Patrick’s Day show at The Blue Grouch on March 18th.
In looking back over the weekend, Fun DMC really was the sum of its parts. It was a show that demanded our absolute best and that’s exactly what was given by Aaron, Albert, Katey, Fred, Talon, Chad, and myself. It took all seven of us to deliver a show that set the bar for all future shows; a show that literally broke the dance floor; a show that from “Can’t Feel My Face” to “Sweet Caroline” held a capacity crowd captive by the unstoppable force of Fun DMC. I recall the doors opening at the beginning of the night and my nerves firing a few nervous synapses as an unprecedented crowd flooded through the several entrances of the massive Crowne Ball Room. As they took their seats I could almost feel them channeling the words of the late Kurt Cobain: “Here we are now, entertain us!” And that’s just what we did. In the several years I have played with this band, Saturday night was by far the best we have ever sounded. No disrespect to any past audiences we have performed for but this was just the most responsive crowd I have ever seen. I tend to keep a rotating list in my head of top live musical moments I have ever been a part of and Saturday night, “Shut Up And Dance” at the Crowne broke into the top five.
To all past members of Fun DMC, thank you for helping to lay the foundation that got us here. To all present members, I love doing this with every one of you. For all future shows, the bar has been set.
