Fat Ass 5K Craft Beer And Cigar Festival and the Jennings Wedding

On Friday night, Fun DMC had the privilege of playing at one of Downtown Springfield’s larger events, The Fat Ass 5K Craft Beer And Cigar Festival. Also on the bill for the 7th Street Stage were two of Springfield’s most sought after acts – Off The Wall opened up the night, fronted by the always dynamic consulate showman, Kip Nelson and the more recently added, Ashley Riley along with Jack Stege, Fred Edmonds, Steve Marvel, and Jim McCann. Following our set were The Shenanigans, a who’s who of the Springfield music scene with names that include Ian Wick, Elizabeth Eckert, Dave Littrell, Micah Walk, Dan Hartman, and Dave Carter. Both bands are masters of their respective crafts and Fun DMC was honored to share the roster with both groups. In fact, we even joined The Shenanigans on stage during their set for a medley. Being a somewhat early night for Fun DMC, the band was soon found at Kip Nelson’s Wabash Steak n Shake for a night cap and uncontrollable laughter.
Saturday morning came along early as it is want to do. Albert, Talon, Chad, Aaron, and Robert gathered on a lovely tract of farm property just west of the city limits to begin setup for the Jennings wedding. Following a lovely ceremony with a picturesque backdrop on a sparkling lake and rolling hills, Fun DMC and the wedding guests packed into the reception tent for an unforgettable night of dancing. Amanda Jackson of Always19 Photography was on site to capture the event while Cracked Pepper Catering and Bakery served up an incredible dinner for the crowd. The dance floor was packed for the entire night and beyond as Fun DMC, in the opinion of this writer, delivered the best show of their career. Around 9:00 PM, Cooper’s StrEATside Eatery food truck showed up for a late night snack. The festivities continued into the late evening and the dance floor never missed a beat.
Following the Jennings wedding, the band found their way back to Casa de Reynolds for a few beers on the front porch and some much needed wind down. We will be performing at the Susan Komen Race For The Cure this Friday night. Hope to see you there.
