Make America Fun Again Promotional Photo
Posted by Fun DMC on July 7th 2016
Last week, Fun DMC assembled with good friend and photographer Travis Lickey of Apt Foto to get another promotional photo together. This one was intended to be multi-purpose – timed to coincide with the Fourth of July Holiday as a promotion for our shows at the Capital City Celebration and Jacksonville Fourth of July Blast and then to be used as a teaser picture to accompany our upcoming promo video. The idea had come up about five weeks ago when Albert found the outfits we ended up purchasing for the shoot. We immediately ordered the suits and Robert was able to secure a large flag.
After a few walk-throughs of the location, the Illinois State Capital, and some reassurance from some local government workers that we wouldn’t end up getting tased in the process, we gathered together on Thursday evening for the shot. Concerned that security might consider this some sort of protest, we did our best to keep the session at about 20 minutes at most. This included the set up, the picture we had in mind, and a few individuals.
As it turns out, our concerns about security weren’t at all an issue. In fact, when you’re walking downtown dressed in full patriotic outfits and posing in front of a landmark, you get a lot more attention from drivers, passers-by, and even a couple touring the capital from overseas wanted a shot with the band. There was a lot of laughter and after successfully capturing what we wanted, we made our way down to Joe Gallina’s Pizza, still dressed in our star-spangled gear. We ended up wearing the outfits through the weekend as well and the attention they got really have us considering adding it to the regular rotation of band uniforms.
