Ask A Vocalist

We call Springfield, Illinois home, and if you’re a native of this area, you know that it’s a city that’s overflowing with raw talent. The bands in this city are diverse, fun, and above all else, contain more incredible musicians that cities twice this size could only hope for. We’ve gotten opportunities to share the stage with many of them and some of our favorite shows have been the ones where we get to bring as many of these musicians together in one showcase, be it at our 100th show anniversary this past year or our annual Christmas At The Curve. While we could write article upon article about the instrumentalists of this city (and we might at some point!), we’ve been focusing lately on vocalists, which comes with the territory when you have a band that bounces back and forth between four vocalists at any given moment.
So this past month, we reached out to twenty-one of some of the best lead vocalists that Springfield, IL has to offer and asked them to share a bit about their influences, their show preparation, and their challenges. While certainly nowhere near a comprehensive list of the top area vocalists, these are good friends of Fun DMC who deliver stunning performances every weekend. If there are any you haven’t heard in person, do yourself a favor and go see them. You absolutely won’t be disappointed.
